The Imperial County gang, K6QK, K6ZH and I, decided to try the Nevada QSO Party. It was pretty much a disaster.

Over the years, I have dabbled in QRP. I carried a 40M QRP (2W) rig with me during a backpacking trip through the Sierras in Northern California and made enough QSOs to justify a QSL card.

In order to operate as ZF1A, I had to apply for a personal ZF call. I had asked for ZF2CW, but since it was taken, they let me choose something else.

Here is my first QSL from Prescott.  The photo is of local landmark Thumb Butte.

Goldfield%20QSL.jpg

Jim, K6ZH, Bruce, K0YW and I went to Goldfield in 2009 for the 7th Area QSO Party. We were much more successful than in 2002, with over 1400 contacts.

In 2009, I operated with from Sierra Leone with AA7A, ZL2iFB, G3RWF and G4BWP.  We used AA7A's call outside the contest.

9L5VT QSL.jpg

In 2010, I operated from Sierra Leone again, with AA7A, G4BWP and G3SXW.  We used 9L5VT to honor K5VT, who became a Silent Key in 2010.
