I think this is my favorite part of ham radio. I truly enjoy the competition to work new countries and I consider that I have friends all over the world. Although I'm not a big-time DXpeditioner, I have operated from a few countries. I went on a DXpedition to Antigua in 1979 with AA7A and K7JVR (SK) and operated as N7CW/VP2A. I was XE2GFW for a short time when the Mexican government was issuing callsigns to Americans. I have operated from France as F/N7CW and in 2003 went to Grand Cayman with K6AM, AA7A, and KY7M to operate ZF1A in the CW WPX contest (we were 4th in the world for Multi-Single). In 2009 and again in 2010, I was invited to operate with the VooDoo Contest Group (their page needs some serious updating) in Sierra Leone as 9L5A and 9L5VT, respectively. In 2011, we will again be in West Africa. In the meantime, I participated in a DXpedition to Kanton Island, using the callsign T31A . I will be writing that story (and it's a good one) as I have time.
I was an early member and past president of the Central Arizona DX Club and was a multi-year past president of the San Diego DX Club. I am currently a member of the Yavapai Amateur Radio Club, which is a general purpose club located here in Prescott. Hopefully, I will be able to stimulate some interest in DX'ing in the local ham community.
Visitors
Since Prescott is very close to paradise, I occasionally get visitors and it finally occurred to me that I should take some photos and share them. Of course, I didn't think of that until recently, so if you stopped by and your photo isn't here, please come back! Here are the photos.
